The Sho Show

Shoshana

The Sho Show is not one specific type of music. It is a mixture of classic rock, current folk, jazz, chill music and some indie stuff. It is a blend of all that is wonderful.
My name is Shoshana and I’m from Seattle Washington (where music was born) on my show I have my friend Havisha Desai who is on her way to becoming an official DJ and she is from Cherry Hill New Jersey.
We’re both a little bit crazy in a good way and we love our friends at Brandeis and around the world who support the show!

Black Jack Davy

Andy Nagy

Since the spring of 1976, WBRS has been the home to The Black Jack Davy Show, an innovative all-encompassing weekly radio program of folk and roots-related music from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Brittany, Scandinavia, Hungary and beyond. Andy Nagy, host for all these years, brings a wealth of knowledge, background stories and passion for the music to the airwaves. Whether it be field recordings from the early 20th century, cylinder recordings from the late 19th century, folk rock from the 60’s and 70’s onwards, or some cool punk, trip-hop or even disco that uses a fiddle tune or is inspired by something folksong related, it can be found or heard on the Black Jack Davy Show. Started while Andy was still in high school, the show has weathered musical changes and political and social upheavals. The WBRS library was a great learning ground for Andy, and the chance to meet and interview many of the most important as well as the most obscure or cutting edge artists has been an invaluable experience. Live in-studio performances have been a highlight of many a show. In addition to The Black Jack Davy Show, Andy has written on music for The Boston Globe, Sing Out! magazine and a host of other publications, as well as being a regular guest host for many years on WGBH FM, and leading the proto-punk folk electric band We Saw The Wolf as singer , songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Once upon a time, The Black Jack Davy Show held a five hour spot on Thursday afternoons, but for the past three and a half decades has been heard Monday nights, currently from 8:30 to 10:00 pm.

Noise Pollution

Schlag

Noise Pollution is an eclectic collection of whatever I and my friends are listening to that week. Meaning its usually the same old old music that everyone loves and listens to once but I have the annoying habit of listening to it until my ears fall off. Hope you enjoy!
